Here Are Your Questions

Try these out.

  1. Where does the graph of -7y + 21x + 14 = 0 cross the y-axis?
  2. A company makes cement using a water to cement ratio of 11 to 20. How many parts of water should be added to 300 parts of cement?

Good luck!

Looking for a Hint?

Here's a good question:

The equation h = -16 t^2 +56t + 32 describes the height h, in feet, of a ball t seconds after it is thrown from the balcony of a building. Sketch the graph of the equation. Then use the equation and the graph to tell all you can about the situation. You can write a paragraph but you may also use math notation.

Make sure you know the compound interest formula.

Equations of Lines

If you are asked to find an equation for a line, immediately write down y = mx + b because that's where you are headed. Sometimes you are given a point and a slope; other times you are given two points. That's all the information you need.

If you are given a graph and need to read points, make sure you are 100% accurate when you read the coordinates. Sometimes, if the graph is very clear, you can read the y-intercept and count off the slope, like you did last night.

Check out this website. It explains point-slope form (NOT slope-intercept form) for the equation of a line. That's what tonight's homework is about. The website uses (x sub 1, y sub 1) instead of (h, k) for the given point.

Homework:
  • Finish Lesson 6-4
  • Complete Covering the Ideas in 6-5.

More Slope!

It's so important...you can never get enough practice with slope. Work carefully tonight.

Homework: (to be finished before Glee)

Slope

I found a nice lesson in coolmath for you. It's always a good idea to read about a math concept a second way.

Remind me to give you the Lesson Masters

Homework:
  • Be sure to finish all of Lesson 6-1.
  • Lesson 6-2, Covering the Ideas.

Today is.....

Have you googled today? What did you notice?

Is it just coincidence? Albert Einstein's birthday is today too!

Would you like to hear what the digits of pi translated to music sounds like? Listen to tubular bells. You might also like to try some art based on the digits of pi on the same site.

Homework:
Did you finish all of Lesson 5-2?
